FARIDA

Farida, one of Sweden's most popular and frequently comissioned belly dancers, currently lives in Italy where she teaches with great success. Apart from teaching in Palermo she often travels to festivals and workshops throughout the country.

With her roots from Sicily, her Italian temper in combination with Nordic grace has given her a unique style that is cool but elegant, modern yet classic. She has a long line of qualifications, and started her dancing career studying ballet for six years. Prior to discovering her passion for raqs sharqi she also studied tip tap, jazz and contemporary dance.

Eminent Egyptian teachers such as Aida Nour, Lubna Emam and Yousry Sharif has instructed Farida. In Sweden, she has danced for Suzanne Petrén Abou Shebika and Lena Helt, who both are renowned teachers that have had a flourishing career as dancers in Cairo.

Farida preforms regularily at shows, festivals, restarurants and weddings in Europe. Together with choreographer Luca Tommassini she has recorded an instruction DVD where she teaches the basics of oriental dance. She also cooperates with Tomas Gylling & Mosquito Sound System, a well-known DJ and TV-show host in Sweden.
